PURPOSE:To prevent furnace bottom tuyeres from being fractured by spalling in the operation of a bottom blowing converter, by rapidly analyzing exhaust gas components, operating the amount of slag-occluded oxygen from the relation thereof with oxygen feed rate and controlling the amount and quality of the tuyere cooling gas from the value thereof. CONSTITUTION:At the time of performing steel making refining with a bottom blowing converter, the CO, CO2, N2, O2, Ar, H2O contained in the exhaust gas in the flue for exhaust gas is rapidly analyzed. From these analyzed values and the rate of oxygen feed into the converter at that time, the amount of the oxygen occluded in slag is operated by material balance. The flow rate of hydrocarbon gas for furnace bottom tuyere cooling is increased or decreased in cooperation with the changing rate of this value, wherein said flow rate is kept at such a value not becoming lower than 3% of the oxygen feed rate. At the same time, the flow rate of an Ar gas as another cooling gas is controlled. This prevents the bricks of the furnace bottom tuyeres from being rapidly cooled and heated and prevents them from being damaged by spalling. |
