The container is in two half-sections (B1,B2) these being hinged together (G). The young fish, used for stocking an area of water, are introduced through an opening which is then closed by a flap (H). The container is weighted (I) on its underside and the two sections held together by a clamp (E3). A line (A) is attached each side (G1,G2) of the container and the latter is allowed to descend, under its own weight, to the bottom. The flap closing the container has a float attached and this is released at the same time as the two halves are opened.
