Welding of electrically conducting and magnetic parts - where layer of pure gold is provided on one joint surface prior to laser welding to increase joint strength

The components consist esp. of the armature (1) of a relay, and a holding spring (2) which is to be joined to the armature, esp. by laser welding. Prior to welding, one of the two parts (1,2) esp. the armature, is coated on its joint surface with pure gold, which is pref. 1-2 microns thick. The object of the invention is to achieve a substantial increase in the fatigue strength of the joint (1,2) irrespective of the materials used to make the two components.
