The sieve consists of a grid which is cleaned and then coated with a material aiding the adhesion of one or more protective coatings. The grid is placed on a template consisting of rows of teeth projecting upwards into the cavities in the grid, followed by applying the coating to the upper and side surfaces of the grid. The coating is pref. at least 1 mm, esp. at least 2.5 mm thick; whereas the templates are pref. made of an elastomer or silicone rubber withstanding a temp. of at least 90 deg.C. Grid pref. consists of two rows of profiled rods welded together at right angles to each other.
