<p>Polyfluoroalkane carboxylic acids prepn., polymn. emulsifiers. New cpds. (I):- X(CF2CH2)n-1CF2CO2H (I) (where X = H or Cl, n = 2-10, R = 1-4C alkyl), are emulsifiers useful for emulsion polymerisation of vinylidene fluoride, hexafluoropropylene, mono-chlorotrifluoroethylene etc. Pref. (I) are prepd. by dehydrochlorinating X(CF2CH2)nCCl3 to give X(CF2CH2)n-1CF2CH=CCl2 which is then oxidised with alkali permanganate or alkaline earth permanganate.</p> |
