Functional DNA block permitting the preparation of hirudine from yeast, characterised in that it comprises at least the sequence: -Str-Lex-Scl-gene H gene H being the hirudine gene or one of its variants, Str is a DNA sequence containing the signals ensuring the transcription of gene H by the yeast, Lex is a leader sequence needed to obtain the excretion of the product of the gene, Scl is a DNA sequence coding for the site of cleavage by the proteinase ycsF, a cleavage site which is unique and situated in the precursor of hirudine immediately ahead of gene H. The invention relates more particularly to a functional DNA block in which gene H codes for HV1.
