<p>A composite closure having a plastic cap (104) with specifically configured pedestals (132) that are interconnected to a plastic liner (106). In one embodiment, the pedestals each have an overhang (140), such as a mushroom-shaped head (138), to provide a mechanical interlock with the liner. In other embodiments, the pedestals each have a fusible heat concentration zone (156) that is fused to the liner as the liner is compression molded and heated in the cap.
