Method of filling a tooth cavity

A tooth cavity is filled by applying to the walls of the tooth cavity a lining composition comprising a phosphoric or phosphonic acid ester compound containing at least one radical polymizerable vinyl group and at least one group, wherein said lining composition contains said phosphoric or phosphonic acid ester compound in a proportion of not less than 0.1 weight percent, as phosphorus, and then filling the remainder of the cavity with a dental filling material which comprises a polymerizable monomer, a filler and a curing agent.
