Carburettor rotary shaft wear indicator - uses electrical contact assembly to close circuit for warning lamp on dashboard

The butterfly valve shaft is supported by two light alloy carriers (3) and is rotated when controlled by the vehicle driver. The wear indicator comprises a contact section (8) of an insulated electrical conductor (5). An adjuster (6) locked by a screw (7) enables the new carburettor to be set up using a section of shaft comprising a groove (4) which is not subject to wear. The conductor is connected to a warning lamp on the vehicle dashboard and is operated when the contact section closes a circuit through the shaft. The contact terminal (14) of the conductor is pref. covered by an insulating material removable by rubbing.
