The telephone receiver is contained in a housing (1) with an upper portion (2) and a lower portion (3). The latter has a seating (4) for the microphone (5) and another (6) for the telephone (7). The upper and lower portions may be separated, and are normally held together by an arrangement of hooks (9) which pass over corresponding ribs (10) integral with the upper part (2). The major portions of the apparatus are made of flexible plastics. Each hook (9) has a V-shaped cross section which enables the construction to cater for manufacturing tolerances and still maintain adequate contact pressure to hold the assembly together. An opening is provided at the microphone end for the cord connection.
