<p>NEW MATERIAL:Alkane amides of formula I (X is halogen, trifluoromethyl; Y is O, S; Z is halogen; R is lower alkyl, cycloalkyl). EXAMPLE:N-[ 3,5-Dichloro-4-( 5-trifluoromethyl-2-pyridyloxy )phenyl ]propionic acid amide. USE:Selective herbicide: they show good effect of inhibiting the growth of pest weeds of broad leaf which grow in crop fields such as soybean, corn or wheat, in particular, weeds belonging to Compositae, Leguminosae and Malvacae. They are harmless on crops and can be applied widely to orchards and forests on hills. PREPARATION:The reaction of an aniline compound with an alkane carboxylic acid of the formula: R-COOH is effected in an organic solvent such as benzene at 0-130 deg.C in the presence of an acid acceptor such as pyridine to give the compound of formula I.</p> |
