The housing halves (1, 2) have mutually facing grooves in their flange regions. The grooves (6) each have a narrower groove (7) in the central region of the groove base, the width of these narrower grooves (7) in the example being a third of the width of the first-mentioned grooves (6). A sealing cord (8) of circular cross-section is inserted into the groove (6) in the lower housing half (2), the diameter of the sealing cord virtually corresponding to the width of the groove (6) and the radius of the sealing cord being greater than the depth of the groove (6) in such a manner that, after the housing halves (1, 2) have been joined together, the sealing cord essentially fills the cross-section of the groove (6) under a slight pressure as a result of plastic deformation, but penetrates into the groove (7) only as far as part of its depth, for example approximately half the depth. <IMAGE>
