Buoy which can be dropped into the water from an aircraft and comprises a load (15) which escapes after the impact with the water. The lower part of the buoy comprises a non-deformable piece (1) comprising recesses and resting on the body of the buoy (6), and a deformable piece (3) possessing two tabs, one part of the tabs being below the recess in the non-deformable piece (3), one part (12) resting on this piece and the end of the tabs entering slots (5) in the body of the buoy (6). In response to the effect of the impact with the water, the tabs, undergoing deformation, emerge from the slots (5) freeing the pieces (1) and (3) together with the load (15).
