A steaming former for finishing of knitted garments has a trunk section comprising an inverted-U shaped frame to which are attached by telescopic joints a neck and shoulder section, two outer shoulder sections and two side sections, together with fixed front and back plates. The movable sections are connected by Bowden cable to levers in the base which enable the various parts to be adjusted w.r.t. each other to accommodate a wide range of garment sizes on the single former.
