PURPOSE:To prevent damages of battery due to abnormal charge by permitting detection of swelling in the direction of height of the battery and permitting stop of charge. CONSTITUTION:A laminated battery B which is formed by laminating single cells of flat-type nickel cadmium cell is charged from the positive electrode side of the charging circuit through a lead wire 5 and a contact piece 6 and from the negative electrode side through a lead wire 11 and contact pieces 7-10. During this charging, if the battery B is charged sufficiently, the battery B swells in the direction of height. The sensing part 13 which detects the swelling of the battery B is formed so as to be contacted with the contact piece 9 through the insulative contact rod 14 and said contact piece 9 is electrically connected with the contact pieces 8 and 10 by the force of a spring 15. If the sensing part 13 detects the swelling of the battery B, the contact piece 9 disconnects between the contact pieces 8 and 10, and the charging circuit is intercepted, and charge of battery B stops. |
