PURPOSE:To enable to provide a synchronous machine at a high speed in operation and at a low cost with high reliability by constructing master and slave rotary electric machines of synchronous machines, connecting directly the primary coils of both machines at a high speed time, and connecting the primary coils of both machines at starting and low speed time via a rectifier. CONSTITUTION:Rotary electric machines 4, 5 are composed of synchronous machines. The primary coils 6A, 6B of both machines 4, 5 are connected via a connection switching circuit 7 having a rectifier therebetween. The lead wires 9 of the secondary coils of the machines 4, 5 are connected directly correspondingly in their phases to each other. When the machines 4, 5 are rotated at high speed, the circuit 7 directly connects the primary coils 6A, 6B to operate synchronously in such a manner that one machine (main rotary machine) 4 is used as a synchronous generator and the other is used as a synchronous motor. The current of the external power source 8 connected to the machine 4 of the generator side is rectified via the rectifier at the starting and low speed time to supply the DC current to the primary coil of the machine 5 at the motor side, thereby producing synchronous torque. |
