The line consists of a length of rectangular waveguide with a ferrite plate located asymettrically inside it in the direction of propagation. The thickness and distance of the ferrite plate from the small walls of the waveguide are chosen such that a non-reciprocal distribution of electric field strength occurs under the influence of a magnetic dc filter. The ferrite has an electrically conducting layer that connects the broad sides of the waveguide. The ferrite forms a single beam or two beams extending along the broad side of the waveguide.
