In the securing of the luggage carrier or the loading platform for a motor vehicle the screw which holds the clamp (2) against the support (1) and the rain strap is covered by a protection cap (10) which is integral with the clamp. The cap comprises an assembly opening through which the screw may be reached. The assembly opening may be closed by a locking device (17, 18) which may be actuated by a key. The locking device closes the opening only in a closed position.
