The plate warmer has a number of spaced vertical supports (28), between which the plates are held and attached to a rectangular base incorporating the heating element (27). The housing (13) of the base below the heating element (27) has a number of ventilation channels (36). Pref. the top of the base comprises a concave mesh (18) along which the plate supports (28) are spaced, so that the edges of the inserted plates rest against the mesh (18), beneath which the heating element (27) is positioned. The ventilation channels (36) are defined by partition walls.
