PURPOSE:To enhance the sensitivity without having an influence upon the other photographic performances by allowing crest and trough to exist on the particle size distribution curve of silver halide particles and including a polyhydric alcohol having two or more hydroxyl groups having a specific melting point or above in this photographic sensitive material. CONSTITUTION:At least two crests A and B and one trough C exist on the particle size distribution curve of silver halide particles, and this photographic sensitive material includes a polyhydric alcohol having at least two hydroxyl groups of >=40 deg.C melting point. The sensitivity is enhanced based on this particle size distribution, and for example, the sufficient sensitivity is attained even with the crest A of smaller particle size and each of crests A and B can be subjected to a proper sensitizing means. It is preferable that the height of the trough C is 70-5% of the height of the crest B adjacent to the highest crest A. A 2,3,3,4-tetramethyl-2,4-pentanediol or the like is taken as a concrete example of the used polyhydric alcohol or the like. |
