PURPOSE:To efficiently carry out the assortment work by forming each assortment group for the articles in each article quantity which is previously set according to the distribution order and assorting the articles transported in a lump for each kind of articles into each pertinent assortment group. CONSTITUTION:A CPU divides the article quantity which is previously set, e.g., the volume of a container (load carrying platform) 301 into six parts according to the distribution order of a truck, etc., and each article assortment group for the articles is formed by a freight arranging conveyor 303 for the articles in each prescribed article quantity on the basis of the length of the article accommodated into one divided volume, and the articles transported in a lump for each kind of article are assorted into each assortment group by branched conveyor 304. Then, the assorted article group is loaded onto the division parts 1-6 of the container 301 by a container loader 302 on the basis of the rear-out top-in principle. Therefore, the assortment work can be carried out efficiently.
