The equipment generates a current of germ-free air in an operating theatre, comprising a hollow flexible body extending round the working area and with ports discharging the air towards the latter. The inner surface of the body is light-reflective, apart from the portion containing the outlet ports. The non-reflective surface towards the working area can be translucent and in the form of a lens, and the body can be a hose. The design simultaneously provides direct and intensive illumination of the working area.
