PURPOSE:To obtain an information recording medium which has excellent recording sensitivity and can be used for recording/reproducing with light beam of various energy power by constituting the recording layer of an alloy of a specified composition in the medium which has a fluorocarbon base layer under the recording layer, and providing an overcoat layer on the recording layer. CONSTITUTION:The base layer 2 is formed between the substrate 1 and the recording layer 3 by plasma polymn. with using fluorocarbon as the source gas, and the recording layer 3 contains Ag, Te, C and H, with Ag/Te ratio expressed by AgxTe100-x satisfying 2<=x<=55 atomic%. An overcoat layer is further provided on the recording layer by plasma polymn. using fluorocarbon as the source gas. The alloy containing Ag and Te in the range above described has low melting point, so that the recording sensitivity for light beam can be improved. The overcoat layer protects the recording layer and stabilize the recording sensitivity. Thereby, recording can be performed with light beam of various energy power. |
