<p>A test bar, which is pref. a tube, is provided with a longitudinal inspection line and covered with the coating to be tested. The bottom end of the test bar is then clamped in the base of a jig, so its top end can be rotated through an arc with a specified angular length; the test bar is next inspected for peeling etc. The pref. test jig consists of a baseplate fitted with a pillar carrying a disc for aligning the top end of the test bar; and a handle is used to twist the top end of the test bar. Reproducible test results are obtd. via a simple jig, which can be totally immersed in a corrosive testsoln. after the test bar has been twisted, when stress-corrosion tests are required.</p> |
