A system of preheater cyclones is described for heat recovery from cement rotary kilns., in which the finely ground feed is passed through the cyclones, countercurrent to the flue gases. Part of the fuel is added to the preheated feed, and the O concn. in the calcination zone is adjusted to 5-14, or preferably 8-12%, and ±2.5% in the exit gas.
