<p>PURPOSE:To achieve easy manufacturing and high precision of a cylinder whose sectional configuration is given by hemi-circles opposed on both sides and intermediate lines, by reforming the both hemi-circles to longer arcs. CONSTITUTION:An engine 1 principally consists of a cylinder 2 and a piston 3. The cylinder 2 is approximately oval, made up of a pair of circular parts 4 on both ends and intermediate linear parts 5. The piston 3 is similar to the cylinder 2. Each circular part 4 of the cylinder 2 is shaped as an arc 6 which has extensions 6a successively extending from the circular parts 4. Both ends of each extension 6a are transversally connected by lines 7. Those circular parts 4 and linear part can be easily manufactured on account of elimination of the need for accurately locating tangents of lines 7 to arcs 6. A piston ring 11 can exactly follow the piston 3 so that a sealing effect may be improved.</p> |
