Travelling unit stripping mine gallery - removes damming material by blasting and has prop top hinged beam as transverse covering open bottomed box

The travelling unit is used in a mine. An upper piece has a traverse with an outer skin overlapping the outer skin of a lower piece. It slides during travel and acts in conjunction with props in an assembly for stripping damming materials. It is esp. for damming materials applied in mine galleries by blasting. The props have their extensible top parts hinged to a beam forming the traverse. This serves as top sealing for a downward-open box with walls formed by the top piece's rigid form skin. The lower props are clamped into a frame, whose outside members comprise the bottom piece's rigid form skin. This is supported and guided independently of the mine working area support system, and affords adequate resistance to the damming material.
