<p>The precision magnetic compass has a compass capsule (2) held inside a protective external case (1). The compass capsule is supported on an eccentric pivot (8) and may be clamped in any position. The pivot point is on the side of the capsule away from the observation side, and the capsule support consists of an adjustment ring (5) consisting of a neck (6) and a mounting flange (7). There is a cutout (4) in the neck portion of ring (5). This engages a part of the housing (1) but allows a certain amount of play. The pivot point (8) consists of a swinging link forming a bearing on the housing. The pivot link may be fixed in the housing and engages in a bore in the flange (7). A clamping ring (11) is bolted to this flange.</p> |
