Heat exchanger for solar heating - has plastics lining layers between joined aluminium sheets with vertical and horizontal channels

The heat exchanger which may be used for heating, and also as a heat collector for a solar heating system is made from two half shells. Each half shell is made from an aluminium plate(9) with vertical channels(7) interconnected by horizontal channels(8). The square regions(9) between are connected to those of the other half shell. Clamped between these two plates are plastics sheets (4.5) which follow the contour of the plates. The two double layers are connected by welds. Plastics inlet and outlet tubes are connected to opposite sides, the edges being welded all round. A vertical weld can extend two thirds of the way down from the tap edge, down the middle. Pref. the plastic sheets are made of PVC, polyethylene or polypropylene.
