Evaluating LF measuring signals - by counting pulses in period directly related to, or multiple of, measuring signals

A method and device for evaluation of measurement signals are applicable to signals whose frequency depends on the measurement parameter (eg temp.). They involve counting pulses of frequency higher than the measurement signal frequency during measurement intervals dependent on the measurement signal period. Linear relationships between a measurement parameter and the number of pulses counted can be generated from a measurement signal both of very low frequency and with a very non-linear relationship between the signal frequency and parameter value. The frequency of the counted pulses is varied during each measurement period after counting a given number of pulses. It is adjusted in inverse proportion to the time interval corresp. to the measurement interval for the given number of pulses as derived from the function relating the measurement parameter to the measurement period.
