Profiles for assembly as overlapping tiles or boards combine a flat exposed profile with a truncated wedge shaped to suit the clearance between a series of inclined overlapping tiles and a plane underlying support. Used for profiles incorporating an exposed panel of asphaltic material combined with a wedge of polyurethane foam, pref. reinforced with metal channels where the profile is to be fastened to a supporting roof structure. The shape allows adjacent profiles to fit together and exclude gaps which could otherwise trap moisture, with consequent frost damage, and also provide continuous support for the superficial panel, to inhibit sagging or buckling under local pressure from e.g. crawling boards. Typically, the exposed panel is 33 cm deep and 3-5 mm thick, with a wedge 14-15 cm long; i.e. 1/2 the depth of the outer panel so that each profile just overlaps the next profile but one.
|
