An elastic warp-knitted fabric has a warp of inelastic threads forming chain stitch along a single wale for three courses, which is then offset by one wale to form three chain stitches in the neighbouring wale, before returning to the first wale. A second warp of elastic threads is inlaid with the first set of threads and laps in a similar manner, around the same needle for three courses, then shogging sideways in step with the first set for another three courses, and finally returning to the first wale. A third warp comprising inelastic, pref. polyamide threads, executes a tricot pattern, counter-lapping the other two warps. The tricot threads reduce the elasticity and increase the stability of the fabric, without destroying the open-pored structure which gives good wearing properties.
|
