The seal is for use between a wall opening and a component which is a clearance fit in it. It is esp. used between a wall in a motor vehicle and a steering column passing through it. The interval is bridged by a rigid bush with a radial seal between it and the component or housing, and between it and the wall opening edge. The bush can be arranged to taper towards the housing. A flange, inclined to the plane of the opening, can be formed on the housing to engage with the bush.
