PURPOSE:To prepare a titled resin having good viscosity characteristics of a pastey dispersion and providing a processed product with excellent tensile strength, abrasion resistance, weather resistance and water resistance, by a method wherein a PVC polymer obtained by suspension polymerization using a water-soluble protein is treated with protease. CONSTITUTION:To 100pts.wt. of a vinyl chloride monomer or a mixture of the vinyl chloride monomer and a monomer copolymerizable therewith, 0.02-2pts.wt. of a water-soluble protein, such as casein or haemoglobin, is added as a suspending agent and the suspension polymerization is carried out an aqueous medium to obtain spherical polymer particles with a smooth surface having 10-80mu average particle size. Subsequently, to 100pts.wt. of obtained polymer slurry or wet cake after dehydration, 0.0005-2pts.wt. protease, such as pepsin or trypsin, is added and this mixture is treated at 20-70 deg.C for several min. to several hrs. to decompose protein remaining in the polymer particles.
