The solar heating panel comprises a sealed, insulated enclosure (10), glazed on the front (5). The absorber (6) is plane on the side (7) facing the glass but has an extended surface area in the form of vertical fins (9) on the back (8). The absorber (6) is mounted inside the enclosure (10) such that a free passage exists around the top and bottom edges. The vertical sides are fixed to the side panels (4) of the enclosure. The whole is filled with a gas or thermal fluid. Due to the differential rate of heat absorption between the front and rear surfaces a natural convection current is obtained. Improved performance can be achieved by accelerating the circulation by means of a fan (or fans) or pump (or pumps) (11,12).
