PURPOSE:To effectively expell the inclusions in molten steel by mounting a slidable outer barrel to the immersion nozzle of the continuous casting machine and intermittently moving the outer barrel upward and downward thereby changing the directio of the molten steel flow from the spouting port. CONSTITUTION:When molten steel spouting ports 11a, 11b are provided zigzag to the outer barrel 11 of an immersion nozzle 4 and an outer barrel is moved upward and downward intermittently, the amount and direction of the molten steel flow being spouted changes periodically. When the outer barrel is lowered, the amount of spouting from the spouting port 11a becomes maximum and the amount of spouting from the spouting port 11b becomes minimum so that the plane-direction molten steel flow in the mold 3 becomes the direction of F1. When the outer barrel is raised, the opposite state is shown and therefore by periodically repeating such changes, the slags and air bubbles included in the molten steel may be effectively floated. |
