Domestic cooker gas burner - has two staggered rows of mixture outflow apertures lower with exit area greater than entry area

The burner is basically of standard design, with gas/air mixt. from a central chamber discharging through two superposed, staggered rows of radial apertures around its periphery. A flange (10) in from the chamber cover (3) rim (8) fitting tightly inside the base (2) rim (6) makes the inlet area of the lower row of apertures (7) less than the outlet area, and 0.4-0.8 of that of the upper row (9) which is cut through this flange. A pin (11) projecting into one aperture ensures correct stagger of the rows. Vertical hols (12) through the base connect the lower apertures to atmosphere.
