The furnace contains a cage which rotates on a horizontal axis, and has a circular row of pockets on its periphery, one billet being located in each pocket. The pref. cage consists of a row of concentric ring cages located on several rows of coaxial running rollers; and each cage contains a circular row of U-shaped straps forming the pocket contg. the billets. Used esp. for billets of ca. 200 mm dia. and up to 7 metres long, where the rotating cage ensures uniform heating and soaking of the billets.
