PURPOSE:To provide the branching function to the transmission line by using the long-size optical line featuring the different propagation constant according to the polarizing direction for the transmission line. CONSTITUTION:The long-size optical line consisting of oval core 1 and dlad 2 features the differences of DELTAbeta1-DELTAbetan to each wavelength for the propagation constant against the two orthogonal polarizing directions and to the light wave lengths lambda1-lambdan plus the substantially constant difference of DELTAbetai to the adjacent wavelengths. And the light is put into one end of the long-size line via the linear polarized, circular polarized or oval polarized wave in order to excite the light waves featuring wavelengths lambda1-lambdan in the two orthogonal polarizing directions. Then the linear polarization in which the polarizing directions of the adjacent light waves cross vertically via the optical phase unit consisting of oval core 3 and cladding 4. In addition, the branching is given to wavelengths lambda1-lambdan by polarization isolator 5, and thus these optical waves are put into photo detectors 6 and 7. |
