The data communications system stores all the message signals and all call numbers sent from the transmitting station via the data switching exchange in a random-access memory belonging to a loop device containing a separate control. This control is only connected to the data switching exchange for the duration of the transmission of the message signals and call numbers. The message signals stored in the loop device's memory are sequentially transmitted (under the control of the control belonging to the loop device) via a connection (set up only for the duration of message signal transmission) to the receiving station described by the stored call number.
