New 2-benzylidene-2-(2-hydroxyphenylthio)acetic acid derivs. are cpds. of formula (I) and their salts and 1-5C alkyl esters. In (I), R is H, Cl, Br, F, CH3, C2H5, OCH3, OC2H5, NO2, CF3 or OH. Specific. (I) is (I; R = H). (I) are prepd. by reaction of cpd. (II) with cpd. (III). (I) have cardiovascular activity, being partic. useful as antiarrhythmic agents.
