The invention relates to a process for making grinding tools, and especially to a mass or composition for making the working part of grinding tools. The composition in question contains 12.5-37.5 vol-% of an abrasive, 30-60 vol-% of a metallic filler and 5-30 vol-% of an inorganic binder, the rest of the composition being an organic binder. The inorganic binder comprises at least one salt with a softening temperature that lies within the polymerization temperature range for the organic binder. The composition according to the invention can be used for making tools that are based on diamond, cubic boron nitride and other extremely hard materials and which are intended for grinding heat-resistant hard alloys, case- hardened and nitrided steel and other materials that are difficult to machine and work. |
