PURPOSE:To improve the quality of glass material and to reduce the production cost by packing glass balls in a releasing setter or in a mold and heating and welding the glass balls while controlling the viscosity of glass to be in a specified range. CONSTITUTION:The glass produced by the direct melting method is adjusted with viscosity and is dropped on a revolving disk to form the glass balls by the centrifugal method, etc. In this case, the diameters of amorphous glass ball are almost to be 500mum-5mm. Then the glass balls are packed in the releasing setter of alumina porcelain, etc., with a releasing agent between, and are quickly heated in a furnace so that the viscosity is within 10<2>-10<5> poise, and the glass balls are soften and welded, and then crystallizing treatment and processing are carried out to form the poreless glass material of perfect amorphous state without blister and striate. Thus, the quality of glass material is improved and the production cost is reduced because the production is simplified. |
