The toy is used to throw a roll of paper which is fixed to a handle by its inner edge. When the handle is flicked forward the roll unwinds so that one coil doesn't disengage completely from the adjacent ones. The handle is a rod with one part being held and the other being fixed to the roll by a rectangular sheet of paper. One part of this is rolled round the stick, while the other is bonded to the roll with their upper edges even.
