The system lays and secure the pipes of surface heaters, using two or more flat components (1), alongside each other. These are each equipped with pipe clips (2, 3) and together form a rigid grid or flat surface when coupled together, the centre distance (a) between clips on adjacent components being the same as that between the runs of heater pipe to be laid. Each component can be a plastics injection-moulding, in one piece with its clips and having coupling portions (4, 5) along the edges for engagement with adjacent ones.
