PURPOSE:To obtain a low-cost, compact synchronous rotary machine by setting up an electrically rotating magnetic field as alternating excitation and further making it possible to vary the frequency of the alternating power which sets up the rotating magnetic field. CONSTITUTION:Power produced by a three-phase AC power supply 6 is directly supplied to an armature 1 and at the same time it is supplied to a field thyristor control device 8. The field thyristor control device 8 phase-controls the power supplied from the three-phase AC power supply 6 and supplies it to a three-phase field coil 7, and thereby a rotating field is set up. At this time, a distributor 2 detects the angle of rotation of the armature 1 and supplies it to field thyristor cntrol device 8 as a phase-feedback. Consequently, the armature 1 rotates in accordance with the difference between the rotating field of the armature 1 itself and the rotating field of the three-phase field coil 7. |
