The optical aiming device has a mirror sight whose sight glass plate provides a sight image which is visible in the field of view of the aiming device, and has a lens system and a partially reflective glass plate for merging the sight image into the field of view of the aiming device. The sight glass plate (18) is provided with a plurality of different sight images (18a to 18d). The sight glass plate (18) can be set into a number of positions, corresponding to the number of sight images in order to select that sight image (18a to 18d) which is to be merged into the field of view of the aiming device, preferably being rotatable such that a part of the sight glass plate (18) is located with one of the sight images in the focus of the lens system in the housing (15) in every position which is set. The aiming device is suitable for firing directly with anti-aircraft weapons, the gunner not needing to keep his eye rigidly fixed with respect to the aiming device. <IMAGE>
