Tube is made from long lengths of metal strip which is bent to a circular cross-section and the edges of the strip are butt-welded in a continuous process. The tube is guided towards the welding electrodes by a gp. of rollers with a circumferential ridge. The circumferential ridge is just wide enough to fit into the gap between the edges of the strip formed after bending to a circular section. The rollers are mounted in a row fixed to an angle bracket the height of which can be adjusted by shims.
