TERTIARY AMINO ACID, TERTIARY AMINO ACID-NITRILE AND AMINE SALTS OF TERTIARY AMINO ACID DELAYED ACTION CATALYST COMPOSITIONS

Tertiary amino acid, tertiary amino acid-nitrile and amine salts of tertiary amino acid compositions have been found to be effective as delayed action catalysts for polyurethane synthesis. They are particularly effective when used in combination with an organometallic such as organo tin composition. Typically, the tertiary amino acids are formed by reacting a primary or secondary amine with an aldehyde and disubstituted acid to form a Mannich adduct. The amine salts are formed by reacting the resulting Mannich acid adduct with an amine. A process for the polymerization of a urethane forming composition is disclosed along with a delayed action catalyst used in the process.
