The present invention concerns an arrangement for measuring the thickness of a lining in a thermal installation. The arrangement for thickness measurement contains a unit 18 for counting of electric pulses, which is connected to a transmitter 1 of electric pulses for the lining thickness, which is arranged on the portion 2 of the lining 3 being measured, and contains in series with each other, in a hermetically closed housing 5, a source 7 of fast neutrons, a protection shield 8, and a detector 6 of thermal and epithermal neutrons. The detector 6 includes counters 9, 10 for thermal neutrons, the number of which counters is determined by the activity of the fast neutron source 7, and a neutron moderator 13, which is designed to increase the energy range for the neutrons that are to be detected by the counters 9, 10 of thermal neutrons. The arrangement can be used for measuring the thickness of a lining in steel melting and burning furnaces during their operating sequence. <IMAGE> |
